More on the forthcoming release of the film…
Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Cinematical and others have reported on the fall theatrical release of The Unforeseen. While we hope it screens in a theater near you, we know it won’t reach every city. We’re happy to report that the film will not only have a theatrical, television and home video release, but that Cinema Guild agreed to allow us to create our own Special Edition DVD.
Special Edition DVD we hope will include:
- High Definition option (Blu-Ray)
- Commentary from Laura, Lee Daniel, Cinematographer, Tom Hammond, Sound Design
- Tentative Featurettes
- Showcase similar development vs preservation struggles going on around the country
- Additional Interview material not included in the film
- The subprime/mortgage meltdown of today
- 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound
The crew shot the film mostly using a Sony Cinealta at 1080P/24fps. It’s an amazing camera that often produces footage indistinguishable from 35mm. Making a version available that delivered the entire image to viewers was a priority to us. We’re appreciative to Cinema Guild for their openness to this.
More on the Special Edition DVD is coming soon, but before that, we need to finish the Theatrical Trailer.

The Unforeseen, executive produced by Terrence Malick and Robert Redford, premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Called "the best film at the festival, hands down" by Film Comment's Gavin Smith, the film documents the struggles between development and preservation of Austin Texas.
